I joined the Board of the CMF in 1987 or 1988 when we were raising money for the Memorial itself and the Trust Fund. I felt it was really worthwhile to have a Memorial to the part Canada had played in two World Wars and I was particularly keen to foster increased links between Canada and the UK. The concept of both helping talented UK students to pursue their careers and to do so in Canada seemed particularly apt. It has been a privilege to help bring this about and I hope the activities of the CMF can continue and expand in scope.
